Whether it’s a holiday break or summer vacation, properly shutting down your school is an essential step for saving energy.

Before you lock those doors for that long-awaited break, take a few moments to ensure your school buildings will be in good condition when you return. Follow these steps to complete Trane’s holiday shutdown checklist:

  • Schedule a controls inspection. An extended break is the ideal time to have one completed.
  • Enable temporary occupancy ventilation (TOV) to allow staff who stop in over the break to turn on room-specific heating or cooling with the simple press of a button.
  • Install strategically place space humidity sensors to enable nighttime dehumidification, reducing the risk of returning to a wet, muggy environment. (Yes, installation takes more than a moment, but they payoff is worth it!)
  • Check your support equipment to ensure it will only run when you want it to.
