Decarbonization Solutions
The journey to decarbonize your building is uniquely yours and Trane can meet you at any point. Whether policy, regulations or your own ESG goals are motivating your building to change, Trane has the answers.
Decarbonization is the process of preventing or reducing carbon gases from being released into the atmosphere, often as the result of burning fossil fuels that emit greenhouse gases. Much like vehicles that are reducing emissions by becoming more fuel efficient, or powered by electric batteries, buildings are decarbonizing, too.
Trane will address decarbonization challenges with you, combining our equipment, controls and services to achieve the goals you set.
Our approach to decarbonization has four pillars.
Improving energy efficiency
By reducing the amount of energy your HVAC system uses you are reducing the amount of energy the grid must produce, reducing carbon emissions overall. This is a good place to start decarbonizing your building. Our energy-efficiency solutions combine high-efficiency equipment, optimized system control strategies, and energy management services.
Switching to electric HVAC
As the electric power grid transitions to renewable energy sources, switching to electric heating effectively reduces overall emissions. Our electrification process addresses which equipment to choose, how to operate it cost-effectively, and how to keep it reliable and efficient.
Prioritizing refrigerant use
Refrigerants used in HVAC systems can have a greenhouse gas effect, so managing them properly is important. Transitioning to low GWP refrigerants in HVAC equipment, monitoring for potential leaks, and proper on-site management are all part of Trane’s refrigerant management solution.
Supporting the transition to carbon-free energy
Solar and wind energy are expected to add more than 50% of utility-scale generating capacity this year, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. Trane can help bring clean energy to your building through on-site or distributed generation, or power purchase agreements.
